Am I eligible?

Questions? Call the Post at 410-257-9878 or stop by the bar and ask for the membership chairman.
Who served in the military?
Pick the one that fits best.
About when did you serve?
Drag to the year your service started. Any year works.
What is your service status?

How are you related to the veteran?
They must be eligible for The American Legion (they don’t need to be a member, or living).
Welcome home, Legionnaire.
Under the LEGION Act of 2019, honorable service of at least one day since December 7, 1941 qualifies. Here’s how to join Post 206:
- Fill out the membership application and print two copies.
- Include a copy of your DD-214 or discharge papers.
- Mail one copy with your dues check to PO Box 428, Chesapeake Beach, MD 20732.
You may still have a place here.
Eligibility depends on the character of your discharge. Our membership chairman can review your situation in confidence, and our Resource Officer can help if you are looking into a discharge upgrade.
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 206
Family of Legion-eligible veterans can join the Auxiliary. Unit 206 runs our monthly breakfast, sponsors Girls State and supports veterans all year.
The Auxiliary or the Sons of the Legion
Children and grandchildren can join the American Legion Auxiliary. Male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons can also join the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 206.
Support the Post without joining.
Most dinners, dances and breakfasts are open to the public, and every one of them runs on volunteers. Come eat, come dance, or pitch in.

Why Legionnaires join.
Founded in 1918, The American Legion is the largest veterans’ organization in the country. At Post 206, it’s also the best seat in Chesapeake Beach on a Tuesday night.

Your buddy is still here
Remember the people who had your back? They are still here, sharing stories over a steak dinner, and some of them need you more than ever.
